I have paid scant attention to Dave Macherson because I have no interest in that type of writing. However, there are some authors on his “hit list” that I consider honest and forthright. When I have a question I try to go the Bible for the answer, and if that does not do it, to a trusted source. Dave Macherson is not on my trusted source list.
The third time Jesus came to the disciples after he had risen from the dead he had some important instructions for them, and for all teachers. Feed my sheep.
Jhn 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, [son] of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
Jhn 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, [son] of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
Jhn 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, [son] of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
Feed them on the Word, and not some personal agenda.
Worldly knowledge and heavenly knowledge are not the same, and even the wises of us are babes in arm when it comes to heavenly knowledge. I think that was Jesus was trying to convey in:
Mar 10:14 But when Jesus saw [it], he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
And like all children, we misunderstand, misinterpret, or just plain “don't get it”. So I cut people, even teachers, a little slack if they don't get it the first time around. And some of us, if we are rebellious, don't get it at all.
God bless you.
